How Is Electrical Cable Flammability Testing Performed?
During the IEC test, our team mounts the cable between two horizontal supports and positions a burner so the flame's inner blue cone hits the cord's surface. Then, we examine the cord's reaction to the flame.
The VTEC Laboratories team can perform an IEC 60332-1-2 test on various cables, such as:

Testing Specifications
To pass a flammability test for cables, the cable must meet two criteria:
- The fire must extinguish itself before causing damage to areas within 50 millimeters of the bottom of the top cable support.
- The fire must extinguish itself before causing damage to areas downwards to a point greater than 540 mm from the bottom of the top cable support.
If your cable passes these two criteria, it is safe for industrial settings based on the IEC 60332-1-2 test.
